What to avoid

JADE stands for Justify, Argue, Defend or Explain. In confrontational situations these tend to create escalation, so avoid them!

Words that have negative connotations can be easy openings for someone to attack you. Use them with care if they can’t be avoided.

We often mix up conversation and debate. In a debate there is a winner, and there is a loser. In conversation, we share feelings, find solutions, even simply pass time with humor and a sense of connection. Indeed, you cannot win a conversation. You may however, have an astonishing impact on re-balancing one. Remember, winning for the VA Practitionner is about self-victory!
